Get Together to Focus on Important Topics for Seniors

Through the “Golden Years Project”, seniors will have the opportunity to focus on subjects of interest to seniors under the theme of “Living longer and living well”. They will do so through a series of recorded group discussions and fireside chats with various subject experts.

Seniors will gather virtually (and in-person when public health regulations permit), thus providing opportunities for seniors to engage with their peers, once again.

As a senior, you have the opportunity gather with your peers to focus on subjects of interest to you and other seniors. Here's a great chance to stay informed and to have fun and maybe win prizes while you do.

Under the theme of "Living longer and living well" the DiversityCanada Foundation brings you the "Golden Years Project".

During the months of October and November of 2021 and January and February of 2022, we'll be sharing a series of recorded discussions with experts and everyday seniors covering subjects to help you make the best of your "Golden Years" including:

  • programs that help seniors save hundreds on utility costs
  • how to protect yourself from fraudsters online
  • how to set up your legal affairs to protect yourself if serious illness strikes
  • simple and easy exercises to get rid of back pain.

And that's just a brief example.

Early in 2022, you can join in an online discussion with other seniors to focus on the issues covered in the videos. This online discussion will take place via video-conference. It will include a quiz (based on the topics covered in the videos) with prizes that you can win.

The online discussion will be open to any senior (ie 55 and over) regardless of where they live. The online quiz is open to any Elliot Lake senior.

Towards the end of February 2022, we'll have a pilot in-person discussion and quiz with select Elliot Lake Retirement Living residences. If you reside in one of the Elliot Lake Retirement Living apartments listed in the form below, sign up to participate in the in-person event. We'll connect you with the activity room committee of your building so that you can coordinate participation.

The Golden Years Project is funded in part by the Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program. Participation is FREE of charge for you.

Sign up below to participate in the online and in-person discussions and we'll be in touch with you, shortly.
